We wanted to turn Edmonton’s coldest month into something hot, so we’ve set off an explosion of astounding theatre.

Spiral Dive will transport you to where bloodlust and fear mix in equal portions. Into the cockpit of a flying instrument of death and to the streets of war time London. To where the guy behind you is trying to annihilate you and the woman you can’t stop thinking about terrifies you nearly as much. Moment after moment in knock your feet out from under you. Each Episode is visceral, intimate and searing.

But the Trilogy is greater than the sum of the plays. It’s a five-hour journey into the heart of Canada’s transformation from colony to country. As a trilogy, Spiral Dive takes us to the moment when Canada grew up and took its place on the world stage. Kenneth Brown shows us when, how and why we became a nation of peacekeepers.

The five amazing experiences in this year’s Canoe Theatre Festival moved us, awed us, excited us, made us laugh out loud and dance around the office as we planned the festival. We want to share with Edmonton the amazing, innovative theatre creators whose work we have loved this year. We hope they rock your boat as much as they rocked ours.

We’re also excited to welcome our new Festival Partner, the REALTORS® Association of Edmonton, which is going to help us kick Canoe up to a whole new level!
