Workshop West is Edmonton’s playwrights’ theatre.
Our 31st season brings you two hot, new plays that cast a fresh, keen eye on the world around us. We are proud to present the main stage premieres of two of Edmonton’s most interesting emerging playwrights.
In The Seed Savers, Katherine Koller takes us inside a family farm during the first battle of a war still being waged. Caught in the sea-change that genetically modified canola brought to prairie agriculture, a farm family must take on the fight of its life.
Mark Stubbings’ Dry The Rain brings us a fascinating take on a drama that will play out increasingly as the Boomer generation ages.
After Agnes and Clayton, a couple of rabble-rousers, enter a “home” they must learn to hold on to their identity as they navigate diminishing health, independence and memory.
The 2010 Canoe Theatre Festival will also bring you emerging artists with exciting new ideas. What else is new? Guys in Disguise and Workshop West will present new and established artists in the 18th Loud & Queer Cabaret, and don’t miss hot new plays in September’s Springboards New Play Festival.
Join us for an exciting season of new theatre in an art form that some call ancient!
