2019-2020 Season

A WORLD PREMIERE, BY NICOLE MOELLER

OCTOBER 30 – NOVEMBER 10, 2019

BACKSTAGE THEATRE, EDMONTON

Max works for one of Canada's most notorious criminal organizations; Peach is a street kid trying to make a buck. A chance encounter entangles their lives indefinitely.  From one of Canada’s best emerging writers comes a thriller that forces audiences to ask: “What is Justice?”

Our stories come from our lived experiences. In the face of challenging times, creation regenerates both individuals and our world. We invite you to join Workshop West Playwrights' Theatre as we celebrate the process and practice of creation, of learning, and of evolution through this year’s Chinook series.

Balance Board invites you into the heart of the creation process with a workshop production of a play that asks us to examine our past in the hope of change in our future. I Walked the Line tells the story of awakening social consciousness as a man discovers hope when his union faces conflict. Our feature Salon That’s Me in the Spotlight ignites public conversation about how our lived experience transforms into art. Black Arts Matter’s AWAKEN  series offers its artists the possibility to look inward towards evolution and transformation, while SOUND OFF’s Deaf Cabaret celebrates connection, community, and possibility across languages.

During this Chinook Series we celebrate and acknowledge the coming of age of SOUND OFF and BAM! Black Arts Matter festivals as they take flight, driven by the artists and communities they serve.
