THE indigenous PLAYWRIGHTS’ CIRCLE IS A PLACE FOR emerging indigenous PLAYWRIGHTS TO GATHER, DISCUSS, AND FOCUS ON DEVELOPING THEIR CRAFT. THROUGH GROUP CONVERSATION, THE SHARING OF WORK, AND THE OCCASIONAL WRITING EXERCISE, PLAYWRIGHTS WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO TAKE RISKS AND CONTINUE THEIR WRITING PRACTICE.

The Workshop West Indigenous Playwrights’ Circle was created in 2023 in partnership with the Alberta Playwrights’ Network and the Writers’ Guild of Alberta to support emerging Indigenous playwrights in their journey to developing new works and creating community with Indigenous artists.

The sessions are free of charge and open to Indigenous playwrights’ who want to create in a safe and supportive space.
