Workshop West is thrilled to present THIS IS THE STORY OF THE CHILD RULED BY FEAR, created by Strange Victory Performance - a whimsical fable about how to live with the slowly unfolding emergencies of our world.
David Gagnon Walker has written a fantastical play for himself and a gathering of friends and strangers to read together out loud. It’s the story of the rise and fall of an imaginary civilization in an imaginary land. Created by a team of award-winning artists from across Canada, this unique immersive experience invites you to help tell a story about worry and wonder, loneliness, community, and the beauty of the unknown. You can participate according to your own comfort – read for a character, join the chorus, or sit back and watch.
THIS IS THE STORY OF THE CHILD RULED BY FEAR is written and performed by David Gagnon Walker and directed by Christian Barry and Judy Wensel. The multimedia is designed by Tori Morrison, with set and props by Morgan Melenka, technical and design assistance by Lauren Acheson and Patricia Vinluan.

‘This is a special theatre experience that celebrates how the act of storytelling can bring us together in the shared space that is a theatre. This elegant production was developed in Edmonton as part of the Common Grounds Found Festival before touring across the country with performances in Calgary, Toronto, Manitoba, and Vancouver. We’re excited to invite this Edmonton creative team back home to share this unique and moving piece with our audiences’.
