Located in the heart of Edmonton’s Theatre District, The Gateway Theatre spotlights Canadian creators, making it the perfect space for productions, workshops, and events.
WWPT is pleased to call The Gateway Theatre home, and we want to share it with you! Workshop West offers support to individuals and organizations looking for a fully accessible venue with affordable rates. Whether you’re part of an arts collab, a show on tour, a business, or a community group, we’d love to provide you a safe space to perform your craft, rehearse, or host your event. VENUE SPECS
THE THEATRE
The Gateway is a 75 seat venue with mobile risers to accommodate traditional or unconventional seating configurations. It is equipped with theatrical sound, state-of-the-art LED lighting options, design flexibility, and projectors - available for rent should you need extra multimedia support. We’re open to discussing whatever possibilities you can dream up! For easy and accessible load-ins, we have a ground-level garage door to accommodate large set pieces, musical instruments, and all your et ceteras. Rental includes the use of the green room, box office, shared lobby, and washrooms. In the green room you’ll find a fridge, microwave, the oh-so-necessary coffee maker, and dishes for all the above. We kindly ask that you wash them after use - we’ll supply the soap!
Not looking to do a show? Not a problem! Our boardroom is a great rehearsal space for script readings, workshops, classes, writing circles and meetings. We can also accommodate a screen, and free WIFI for those joining virtually. Rental can include shared lobby space, and washrooms.
THE BOARDROOM
SERVICES
We’re a fully licensed venue, and our bar carries a selection of beer, wine, cider, non-alcoholic beverages, and your own bartender to serve it up at $22/hour! If you choose to use our products, WWPT retains all bar proceeds, but if you have any specific needs, we’ll be happy to talk about ordering product in for you!
THE BAR…
Our amazing house technician will be happy to chat about lighting hangs, sound requirements and the best way to address your needs. They’ll be available for load-ins, setups, technical rehearsals, performances, strikes and social events at $26/hour (not included in the daily rental rate). Depending on the the complexity of the show, we may need to hire a second technician (at the same rate) to help out.
THE BACK OF HOUSE…
We provide a Front of House manager to help with taking tickets, directing traffic, and making sure everyone feels safe and sound at a rate of $22/hour. The lobby can be used for receptions, merch sales, displays, or just a spot for your audience to chat after the show! Paid parking is available at the
