Welcome Brad Fraser
We were absolutely thrilled to have Brad Fraser, one of Canada’s leading playwrights hosting the Edmonton Playwrights’ Circle this season!
Brad Fraser, who has been affiliated with Workshop West Playwright’s Theatre since its inception, is the author of many successful plays including the worldwide hits Unidentified Human Remains and the True Nature of Love, Poor Super Man, and Kill Me Now, his films include Love and Human Remains, and Leaving Metropolis, for TV he was a producer and writer on the groundbreaking Queer as Folk, he has also written extensively for other media. He earned his Master’s degree from the University of Toronto, has taught many classes on writing, and recently saw the release of his memoir, All the Rage, which saw him nominated for an Audie Award for best narrator of an audio book in America. He lost that award to Barak Obama. Last year he created a controversial and successful adaptation of Shakespeare’s Richard ll for the Stratford Festival. The Edmonton Playwrights’ Circle is a place for playwrights to gather, discuss, and focus on developing their craft.
Through group conversation, the sharing of work, and the occasional writing exercise, playwrights will be encouraged to take risks and continue their writing practice.
The sessions are free of charge and open to all playwrights at any level of experience. There is no expectation for playwrights to attend all of the sessions, the EPC is offered on a drop in basis.
Playwrights are invited to bring any writing they might like to hear read aloud by their peers in the group. The 2026/27 Edmonton Playwrights’ Circle will be co-presented by the University of Alberta Drama Department’s Lee Playwright in Residence Brad Fraser.
