FRANK MOHER

Frank Moher first performed on stage at what was then called the Centennial Library Theatre in Edmonton in 1967, in a musical called “Jackpot!” Since then he has gone on to become an internationally-produced playwright, director, and, in recent years, actor again. His plays include “Odd Jobs,” which premiered in a Theatre Network/Catalyst Theatre production and has since been seen throughout North America as well as abroad, and “The Third Ascent” and “Prairie Report,” both winners of Sterling Awards.

Frank’s association with Workshop West dates back to its inaugural 1978-79 season, when he appeared in a production of “On the Job.” In addition to “Prairie Report,” the company also produced his plays “Farewell,” “Kidnapping the Bride,” and “Sliding for Home” (with music and lyrics by Gerald Reid), the latter an homage to John Ducey, who brought baseball to Edmonton in the 1940s.

“Boy Player” premiered at the Gabriola Theatre Festival in 2025 on Gabriola Island, BC, where Frank now lives with Diana, his wife. It received the Festival’s Audience Favourite Award, and was re-mounted at Western Edge Theatre in Nanaimo, BC in April. Frank is delighted to be bringing it to his hometown of Edmonton, where much of the play is set, and where his mother once took him to see “The Sound of Music” at the old Varscona movie theatre on Whyte Avenue, twice.
